Book Club in a Bag

Henderson Libraries is pleased to offer our Book Club in a Bag (BCIAB) program, available to all current Henderson Libraries account holders!

What comes in a Book Club in a Bag kit?

Most kits include: 

  • A backpack
  • Six paperback copies of a book
  • A folder with guidelines, discussion questions, a group sign-out chart, a book guide, and six bookmarks

Reserve a Book Club in a Bag

Guidelines

  • Book Club in a Bag (BCIAB) kits are available to patrons ages 18 and older with a Henderson Libraries account in good standing.
  • See the lists above for current titles. Please allow a few weeks for your kit to be available, especially for popular titles.
  • BCIAB kits must be checked out on a single Henderson Libraries account, and the account holder is financially responsible for all six copies. You may have up to two kits checked out at a time.
  • BCIAB kits can be checked out for six weeks (typically, one week to distribute, four weeks to read, and one week to return to the library).
  • Once your reservation is ready for pickup, you will receive an email notification. You will then have seven days to pick up the BCIAB kit from the Service Desk.
  • Check the contents of the BCIAB kit before leaving the library.  Each kit contains: a backpack, six paperback copies of the book, and a folder with guidelines, discussion questions, group sign out sheet, book guide, and six bookmarks.
  • Return the BCIAB kit to the Service Desk inside the library, not in the outdoor book drop.

    • What books do you have?

      What books do you have?

      We have over 600 popular fiction and non-fiction titles to choose from for kids, teens, and adults! Download a list of titles by genre:

    • What if there's a book you don't have?

      Is there a BCIAB kit you want that we don't currently offer? Fill out the form below to request it! We will review your request and let you know if we can purchase it.

      Note: There is a limit of 4 requests per book club per year. Books must be available as paperbacks. It takes approximately 8 weeks to process new kits.

    • How to reserve?

      Kits can be reserved by filling out the form below.

      Once your reserved kit is ready for pickup, we'll send you a notification. The kit will be available on our hold shelf for seven days, ready for you to check out. You can borrow the kits for six weeks.

      You can also call us at (702) 707-2665 and a team member will assist you.

    • What if a group member forgets/loses a book?

      The BCIAB kit must be returned in the condition in which it was borrowed. Any missing or damaged items are the responsibility of the borrowing account holder.

      The replacement cost of each item:

      • Book: $15.00
      • Backpack: $10.00
      • Entire kit: $100.00
    • Can my group members return their book when they’re done?

      No, the BCIAB kit must be returned all at once, or the borrower will be charged.

    • What if my group has more than six members?

      You can use the sign out sheet (included in the kit) to distribute the books, or you may check out additional copies for your group in our other available formats.
